About the paper weight converter
Convert between Bond, Text, Cover, Index, Bristol, Tag, and GSM using standard TAPPI basis sheet sizes — the same math estimators and CSRs use when a mill ticket mixes imperial and metric stock.
How it works
Each US grade has a basis sheet. Basis weight converts to grams per square meter, then back into every other grade so you can compare 20 lb Bond, 50 lb Text, and 75 gsm side by side.
Imperial and metric
Results always show approximate GSM. Example: 100 lb Cover ≈ 270 gsm, 80 lb Text ≈ 118 gsm, 20 lb Bond ≈ 75 gsm.
Limits
These are industry-standard equivalents, not a substitute for a mill caliper or brand sheet. Coated finishes and caliper can diverge from basis-weight math.
