About the text sanitizer

Clean inconsistent whitespace, line endings, control characters, and zero-width formatting marks from plain text.

What it preserves

Ordinary Unicode letters, emoji, punctuation, tabs, and line breaks remain unless an enabled option changes their spacing.

Blank lines

The default keeps at most one blank line between blocks. Turn that option off to retain every blank line.

Limits

This is plain-text cleanup, not HTML sanitization, malware scanning, redaction, or validation for a database or programming language.

Privacy first

Processing and copying happen locally in your browser. Dockzio does not upload the text you enter.

Practical guidance

Clean pasted text without losing its structure

Text copied from emails, PDFs, or spreadsheets can contain extra spaces and inconsistent line endings. Choose cleanup rules for the destination, then compare the result with the original before replacing it.

Prepare a list for import

Keep one item per line when preparing tags or inventory labels. Leave Convert to one line off so separate entries remain separate. Trim each line to remove padding; collapse horizontal whitespace only when repeated spaces are accidental. Save a raw copy before changing the list.

Worked example

A line containing two leading spaces, Café, three spaces, an emoji, and two trailing spaces becomes Café followed by one space and the emoji with the default trimming and spacing options. A second line containing Alpha stays on its own line. The cleanup does not translate words or remove accents.

Choose exceptions deliberately

Repeated spaces may align columns or indent code; blank lines may separate records. Turn off the corresponding options when that structure matters. Zero-width formatting marks can also affect writing systems and emoji sequences, so inspect affected text before accepting their removal.

Verify before copying

Check the first and last entries, meaningful line breaks, punctuation, and any non-English text. The character reduction describes how much changed, not whether the result is correct. This tool does not remove duplicate entries or make HTML safe to execute; use a dedicated next step for those tasks.
